Resting Metabolic Rate

How many calories can you consume without gaining weight? To effectively manage "Calories In" and balance the Energy Equation," it is important to know your daily caloric requirements. Seventy percent of the total calories a person burns each day are composed of the calories needed for essential life processes as measured by the Resting Metabolic Rate or RMR. The remaining thirty percent of calories burned come from physical activity such as digestion, activities of daily living and exercise.

Why Measure RMR?
Everyone's metabolism and caloric needs are different. Your body's metabolism is affected by:

New Leaf RMR Assessment

marcer2Measures both VO2 and VCO2 for greatest accuracy
marcer2 Assessment is easy to perform
marcer2 Requires approximately 10 to 12 minutes to complete
marcer2 Creates a metabolic report which includes the client's RMR, total caloric consumption and Action Plan for weight loss
marcer2 Determines the client's ration of fat and carbohydrate utilization
marcer2 Offers re-assessments which chart progress and change in RMR
marcer2 Client's nutrition and exercise plans can be adjusted based on objective measurements
Measured RMR Vs. Estimations
marcer2When RMR is calculated by estimations it is subject to significant error as much as 20% to 25%. This can lead to an inappropriate nutritional plan.
marcer2 The "gold standard" for determining RMR is through indirect calorimetry using a metabolic analyzer which measures both VO2 and VCO2 as provided by the New Leaf Active Metabolic Assessment System
